How to enter a new line on Reddit

It feels pretty much awful if you wanted to add a line break to a block of text only to see it sent. It could be an incomplete statement but there it goes, looking broken and making you look like a reckless netizen.

On Reddit, a new line can be added whether you’re including text in a post or a poll. With image and link uploads, the text that is only needed is the title and this shouldn’t be written in so many lines.

Since you can add a post or a poll on both the app and website, this article is going to show you how to enter a new line on Reddit.

  • From your home screen, find your way to the Reddit app by sliding or scrolling. Also, the app can be found on the Apps menu.
  • Tap on the app to launch it and enter your login credentials. It will open to the home screen of the app.

  • Tap on the ‘+’ button (previous Reddit versions) or the pencil icon.
  • Tap on ‘Post Some Text’ or the icon labeled ‘Text’ underneath it.
  • A screen labeled ‘Text post’ will appear. Click on the body where there is a ‘Your text post (optional)’ label. Enter your first line.
  • On previous versions of Reddit, you needed to tap on the ‘Enter’ button twice to add a line break. This would move the cursor below the first line. On later versions of Reddit, you just need to tap on the ‘Enter’ button once to jump to the next line.
  • After tapping on ‘Enter’ once (or twice, dependently), enter your other line. You can do this repeatedly until your post is ready.
  • Now, remember to add a title and a subtitle to the post.

  • Get to the post you want to comment on or that which has the comment you want to reply to.
  • Tap on ‘Reply’ or ‘Add a comment’
  • Once you have written your first line, you can either tap ‘Enter’ twice (old Reddit app) or just once (latest app updates).

    • Visit Reddit’s website and enter your login details. When this is successful, the website should open to the homepage of the new Reddit.

  • Now, click on the icon next to the ‘Get Coins’ button. The ‘Create a Post’ screen will open.
  • On the active text box, add your first line. When this is done, tap on the ‘Enter’ button once to add a new line. Tapping on the ‘Enter’ button twice adds one more line (therefore adding a bigger in-between space) from the already existing one.
  • When you are satisfied, click on the ‘Post’ button.

  • Find your way to the comment you want to reply to or to the post you want to comment on.
  • Click ‘Reply’ or ‘Add a Comment’.
  • When you type what you need to, tap on the ‘Enter’ button to add a new line.
  • Then, you can now send your reply or your comments by clicking the relevant buttons.

    • When Reddit started on the web and the app, it was a bit challenging for people to add a new line. But with new developments, you just need to tap ‘Enter’ once as you do on all the other platforms that require text input at one point or the other.
